Sunday Stash #9

Just a few things I picked up lately, some pink linen, and they grey woven with the black dash.
And my favorite, is this lighted, magnetic, extendable pin picker-upper.  I hate when I am hand sewing, and I drop my needle and I can't find it. I don't want to sit on it or step on it, and this wand has a strong magnet that I can just wave over the area and the needle will come flying and attach itself to the end.  I have one in my toolbox as well, great for picking up construction nails outside when doing work on the house.

And I really like these NatureScapes fabrics.  So realistic stones and rocks that I'm hoping to use in a future project.

Slow Sunday Stitching #21

Here are some 3/4" English Paper Pieced Hexagon flowers that I recently made. I remove the papers after basting. My process is baste, press, remove papers, press again, store for later, make flowers, press again with Best Press. The batik fabrics make a great flat crease with the best press.  I will have to try this on my regular fabrics so see how the pressing goes.

Here are some 7/8" English Paper Pieced Hexagon flowers. I take the pictures out on the patio table on a sunny day, in-between the snow storms. The background batik is a layer cake (10" x 10"), to give an indication of the size of the hexi flowers.

Ad Hoc Improv Quilters #1

I've been wanting to do more with ad hoc improv quilting, so I thought I would gather up some of my progress and link up with the AHIQChineseCoins and AHIQ #18

In 2017, the first quarter project are variations of the Chinese Coin, and you can find the information here

So these are some scraps of Asian fabrics that I improved pieced into stacks of coins. I laid my pieces out on a piece of fabric on the patio table outside for the photos. Not sure what fabric I would use for some sashing at this point.

And some more.  While some stacks look like the traditional coins, others are a bit more of a hodge-podge.

Slow Sunday Stitching #18

Here are some  7/8" English Paper Pieced Hexagon flowers next to some 3/4" hexagon flowers.

And another 5 3/4" hexagon flowers. I decided to use some of the greens I had basted and put together these flowers.
